JCC Afterschool-Berkeley Program

The Afterschool Berkeley Program is located at our spacious and historic Berkeley facility at 1414 Walnut Street. We offer a diverse array of organized activities as well as opportunities for kids to relax and spend time with friends after school. Our staff is here to serve your child’s needs whether it be helping with homework, reading a story, working in the garden, or playing an energetic game of soccer out in our yard. In addition to our core activities, group programming, celebrations, and free play time, there is also a wide range of enrichment classes to choose from.

Hours for Afterschool-Berkeley are: 1:00pm – 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Chugim (Enrichment Classes)

The JCC Afterschool-Berkeley Program offers over 70 chugim (enrichment classes) each session to our enrolled students. We provide a wide scope of topics to choose from: cooking and baking, painting, sculpture, circus arts, martial arts, science and nature exploration, and ice skating are all offered as possible classes for your child to enjoy! Many of our classes are taught by our own staff while some are contracted out to professionals within the community- the cost of each class depending on material fees and instructor. With such a variety of chugim, there is a little something for everyone!

School Districts and Transportation

We serve students in the Berkeley, Albany, and West Contra Costa Unified School Districts and offer all-day programming for most school district holidays and vacations. Transportation to the JCC Afterschool-Berkeley Program is provided by the Berkeley Unified School District as well as our own van service. All of our vans and drivers are Youth Bus certified through the California Highway Patrol and all passengers are required to wear seat belts.
